It is not uncommon for patient's to fail conservative care methods for a neuroma. When this happens, there are surgical modalities available to help alleviate your pain.
About the Procedure
"Excision of a neuroma" is a procedure in which the surgeon makes a 4-5 cm incision on the top of the foot and removes the inflamed nerve, which helps alleviate your pain. Patients are generally in a hard shoe or boot for about 2-3 weeks until the stitches are healed. After that, they are able to get back into a tennis shoe and onto their daily lives without pain!
