Who’s kidding who?

Yes, your inserts and orthotics WILL smell over time if you don’t make an effort to keep them smelling fresh.

The good news?

It’s easy to keep them squeaky clean!

Quick Fix

For a no-fuss, quick re-fresher, just pop them into a Ziploc baggie and throw them in the freezer overnight.

The principle behind this is simple science. Temperatures that are cold enough to freeze ice also kill most bacteria behind those funky smells.

Wash Me

From time-to-time, you should clean orthotics and inserts with mild soap or detergent and a soft cloth or sponge. Let them air dry thoroughly, usually overnight, before placing them back into your shoes.

Toe Tip

Wearing socks with your shoes will reduce the chance of stinky shoes because socks help to wick away moisture.

If you have foot pain and think you need orthotics or have been considering inserts, come in for a gait analysis and foot exam at Lexington Podiatry. Over-the-counter inserts don’t solve the underlying issues that cause foot pain. Call 859-264-1141 or make an online appointment today.
