Rob Freels MBA, MACCCFO
Rob is a multifaceted individual with a diverse range of experiences and accomplishments. Born and raised in eastern Kentucky, he developed a strong work ethic and a passion for education from an early age.
After completing his high school education, Rob pursued his academic journey at the University of Kentucky, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Economics. It was during this time that he discovered his love for numbers and financial management. This newfound passion led him to further his education at the prestigious Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. There, he successfully obtained a Masters of Business Administration.
Rob's dedication to supporting his partner Nicole was evident when he relocated to Cleveland to accompany her during her Podiatry school years. During this time, he embarked on a new academic pursuit, earning a Masters degree in accounting at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. As a testament to his academic achievements, Rob joined Beta Alpha Psi, a fraternal accounting organization.
Following the completion of his studies, Rob kickstarted his professional career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, a renowned accounting firm. He honed his skills on the assurance side of accounting, gaining valuable experience in auditing processes and financial controls. Seeking new challenges and opportunities, Rob later transitioned to a healthcare accounting firm based in Atlanta, Georgia. In this role, he audited hospitals throughout the southeastern United States, including the prestigious University of Florida Medical Center, along with numerous hospitals and physicians' practices in the area.
Rob's commitment to personal and professional growth led him back home to Lexington, Kentucky, where he joined Lexmark as an internal auditor of financial controls. However, as his wife Nicole's practice, Lexington Podiatry, began to flourish, Rob made the decision to dedicate himself full-time to the family business. With his financial expertise, he assumed the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Lexington Podiatry, leveraging his skills to ensure the practice's financial success.
In addition to his flourishing career, Rob is an individual with diverse interests. He has a strong passion for music and has been a distinguished member of the University of Kentucky choir. Additionally, his artistic talents have been recognized, earning him a scholarship for his artistry. Rob also embarked on a personal journey to learn the guitar, nurturing his creative side.
Rob's thirst for knowledge is matched only by his sense of adventure. He has a deep interest in history, understanding the complexities and stories that shape our world. Traveling alongside Nicole, he has explored numerous countries, immersing himself in different cultures and embracing the hospitality, cuisine, and scenic vistas offered by each new destination. Despite their global explorations, Rob and Nicole proudly call Lexington, Kentucky, their home.
Outside of his professional and personal pursuits, Rob has also served as a valuable member of the board of directors for Podiatric Super Group Management for several years. This role reflects his dedication to the wider podiatry community and his commitment to enhancing practices and providing optimal care for patients.
