It's that time of year again where the leaves start changing color, the air gets a little chillier in the morning and evening, and pumpkin spice everything starts appearing on store shelves. Yes, fall is officially here!

As the weather cools down, it's time to start thinking about what type of boots you're going to wear this fall. While some people might reach for their favorite pair of fluffy, fleece lined Uggs, we recommend something a little different. Read on to find out which boots are best for your feet this season!

While the traditional Uggs are great to keep your feet warm while lounging around the house, they are not supportive enough for all day wear. Here are the things that you should look when shopping for fall boots:

  1. Make sure they fit properly

Ill-fitting boots can be a major cause of foot pain. Be sure to try on boots before you buy them, and make sure they're not too tight or too loose. A lot of boots tend to run narrow, so make sure the toe box is wide enough for your foot. Do not try and squeeze your foot into a boot just because it is stylish.

  2. Look for comfortable features

Some boots come with features that make them more comfortable to wear, like cushioned insoles or padded collars. If you can find a pair of boots with these features, you'll be much less likely to experience foot pain.

  3. Avoid high heels

It's no secret that high heels can be painful, so it's best to avoid them if you're looking for a comfortable pair of boots. Stick to lower, chunky heels or even flats to keep your feet happy.

  4. Choose the right material

Some materials are more comfortable than others, so be sure to choose a pair of boots made from a soft, breathable material. Leather is usually a good option, but make sure it's not too stiff.

  5. Consider your activities

If you know you'll be doing a lot of walking, it would be best to have a custom orthotic inside of the boot. Unlike the one-size-fits-all mentality of the drug store inserts, custom orthotics are specifically designed for your foot, giving you optimal support. We can create a sleek design so that the orthotic will easily fit in your boots!
