A Podiatrist

The big question...

What should I look for in my shoes?

We’ve got you covered! If you’re looking for shoes on your own, it’s important to check for stability & support. Our ultimate shoe guide gives you the in's and out's for understanding your lifestyle needs, shoe anatomy, and podiatrist recommendations based on foot pain. Let's run through the basics together, starting with your lifestyle needs.

Daily Wear

Our docs prioritize comfort + arch support for daily wear, and you should too. When picking a new pair, be sure you're not sacrificing style for comfort. Look for shoes that accommodate custom orthotics + have soles you can take out. Notice: If you have custom orthotics, you may have to size up in order to accommodate. We recommend purchasing your shoes after you receive your orthotic!

Shoe Anatomy

Understanding what your shoe is made of will help you perform stability tests when you're out shopping. Our 2025 Shoe Guide goes over how to assess the outsole, midsole, counter + more - and what it all means! If you haven't unlocked our updated guide, be sure to visit our home page for your free copy.

What About Foot Pain?

We've got your back (and your feet)! Depending on where your pain stems from, different factors in your shoe fit will either alleviate or increase your discomfort. Our detailed guide walks through heel, top of the foot, and ball of the foot pain with our top tips to look for. We've given you a sneak below for heel pain, there's more where that came from.

What To Look For?

- Arch Support: Provides stability & helps distribute weight evenly.

- Cushioning: Absorbs shock & reduces impact on the heel.

- Heel Elevation: A slight raise can relieve stress on the plantar fascia

- Stability: Prevents excessive pronation, reducing strain on the heel

We Recommend...

- Hoka One Bondi: Plush cushioning & great arch support for heel relief.

- ASICS Gel-Nimbus: Gel cushions ease heel pressure.

- New Balance 990v5: Comfy & supportive design let's you have the best of both words with style + comfort!
